I’M TIRED

I’M TIRED—and when I say I’m tired, I mean it from the depths of my soul.

Likes, mentions, retweets, views, followers, and engagement fuel the urban community, and everyone is a star searching for the next viral moment.

Everyone is vying for attention, validation, and acceptance, yet very few are standing on anything of real substance once you peel back the layers.

With that said, there is one person in particular that the Gentleman is tired of… respectfully.

Claressa, Chill Bro.

Claressa Shields
Claressa Shields

I need the “GWOAT,” Claressa Shields, to chill, bro.

Make no mistake about it: she got hands. A two-time Olympic gold medalist and undefeated, multi-division world champion—when it comes to boxing, she has no equal.

Boxing has nothing to do with why I’m tired.

I need Claressa to stop trying to convince us that she’s sexy. Stop trying to convince us that you’re this girly girl.

There is nothing more cringe than a “try-hard.” Every weigh-in, she is getting closer and closer to being butt-naked, and we just don’t care.

She got on the internet trying to convince us that Papoose is paying all her bills when nobody can tell me what Papoose does for a living.

Papoose has been the Stedman Graham of hip-hop for the last 20 years. Nobody has stood behind a successful wife or girlfriend like Papoose—but I digress.

WHY?!

I lost my damn mind this past weekend, though.

Claressa won her boxing match in impressive fashion. The next day, she decided to tweet, and I quote: “I’m probably pregnant now, Papoose went crazy after the fight.”

WHY!!???

Why did you need to say that? What are you trying to prove?

You are a grown woman with a boyfriend. What do we expect y’all to be doing? I am quite sure it would be on everyone’s bingo card that you would have your 10 toes in the air after winning your big fight.

I’m tired, tired, TIRED.

GET OFF THE INTERNET

Listen, people. This woman called into a podcast that was speaking negatively about her.

She started out speaking in the third person because she didn’t want anyone to know it was her. Mid-call, she got so upset and caught up in the argument that her country ass forgot she wasn’t supposed to be herself.

Leave Something to the Imagination.

Yes, I am tired of Claressa Shields, but I am really tired of the reason all of this is even possible.

If Claressa didn’t crave the attention and approval of strangers, we wouldn’t be privy to this ridiculousness.

Your life doesn’t have to be social media.

There should be parts of our existence that remain sacred.

For God’s sake, leave something to the imagination.
