To the public, Mustang is a model, actor, entertainer, reality television personality, and certified fitness professional. Depending on where you’ve discovered him, you may know him from Tyler Perry’s Sistas, BET’s Bigger, P-Valley, The Braxtons, Netflix’s Beauty in Black, or his highly anticipated appearance on Bad Boys Season 4.

Others may recognize him from social media, where viral moments have often overshadowed the man behind the screen.

According to Mustang, the internet only tells a fraction of the story.

Behind the headlines is a man whose foundation was built in faith, whose journey has been marked by perseverance, and whose purpose extends far beyond entertainment.

During our exclusive conversation with SLUMS Magazine, Mustang opened up about his upbringing, the misconceptions surrounding his name, his rise to fame, and the personal values that continue to guide him through every chapter of his career.

Built on Faith Before Fame

Long before television cameras followed his every move, Mustang’s life began in a household rooted in ministry.

“I’m a preacher’s kid,” he says confidently.

He describes it as an honest reflection of his life’s journey—a testimony that answers not only questions about his upbringing but also reveals the experiences that shaped the man he has become.

It’s built on overcoming adversity, leaning into faith, and allowing life’s darkest moments to become fuel for purpose.

That spiritual foundation continues to influence every decision he makes today.

The Man Behind the Persona

As Mustang’s popularity has grown, so have public opinions. Yet he believes one of the biggest challenges of fame is convincing people that the version they see online isn’t always reality.

“The biggest misconception people have about me is that because they’ve seen me make sexual content or make certain decisions, they think they actually know me,” he explains. “That’s the furthest thing from the truth.”

According to Mustang, those closest to him know a completely different individual.

“My real family and the few friends I have know this internet stuff isn’t my real passion. Fitness is.”

He also pushes back against assumptions that kindness equals weakness.

“People mistake being nice for being scared, stupid, or naïve,” he says. “In real life, I’ve always stood on business and earned respect wherever I go.”

His perspective on today’s culture is refreshingly honest.

“We tell people to live in their truth,” Mustang says, “but then judge them for doing exactly that.”

For him, maturity has become the ultimate form of truth.

“Truth isn’t always loud. Sometimes truth is simply maturity.”

It’s a philosophy that has allowed him to navigate criticism without losing himself.

Rather than constantly defending his character online, Mustang chooses growth over noise, prayer over negativity, and purpose over popularity.

Preparing for Opportunity

Mustang’s acting résumé continues to expand with appearances across some of television’s biggest productions.

From Tyler Perry’s Sistas to BET’s Bigger, P-Valley, The Braxtons, ATQM, and Netflix’s Beauty in Black Seasons 1 and 2, each opportunity has added another chapter to an already impressive career.

Interestingly, he says many of those opportunities came naturally.

“I was blessed where those roles actually came to me,” he recalls. “It’s about being in the right place at the right time and always being prepared so you don’t have to get ready.”

Instead of chasing validation, Mustang believes in allowing his talent to create opportunities.

“Allow the gift to make room for you instead of walking into the room trying to create a gift.”

That mindset has become one of the defining principles behind his success.

A Tyler Perry Moment He’ll Never Forget

Every actor has one career-defining memory.

For Mustang, it happened while working with entertainment mogul Tyler Perry.

He laughs as he recalls Perry hearing his stage name for the first time.

“He joked and said, ‘What’s your actual name? Your mama didn’t name you that.’”

The two shared a laugh, but Mustang politely asked him to continue calling him by his artist name.

Then something unforgettable happened.

“Hearing Tyler Perry call me ‘Mustang’ multiple times on set made me realize people really know my name… and for something positive.”

It was more than just hearing his name.

It was confirmation that years of sacrifice were beginning to pay off.

Even more importantly, it reinforced one lesson he carries with him daily.

“God will make your enemies your footstool and make your name great no matter how much dirt people put on your name.”

The Road to Bad Boys Season 4

Reality television now presents Mustang with another major opportunity.

After previously auditioning for an earlier season without being selected, he never allowed disappointment to become defeat.

Instead, he continued preparing.

When auditions opened in Atlanta for Bad Boys Season 4, he knew the opportunity belonged to him.

“I was confident and ready,” he says.

He credits Zeus Network for building a platform that gives people opportunities to evolve while remaining authentic.

During the audition, Mustang believes judges—including Claressa Shields and Ari Fletcher—recognized something beyond personality.

“They saw who Mustang really is behind the scenes.”

Then came the phone call.

“The excitement from their end of the phone and mine… I ran through the house yelling.”

”Then I fell on my face and thanked God.”

For Mustang, booking the show wasn’t simply another television credit.

It represented another reminder that faith continues to open doors no obstacle can permanently close.

Authenticity Takes Center Stage

As viewers prepare to watch him in Cancun, Mustang says audiences should expect to meet the real version of himself.

“My actual character,” he says.

“The goofy me. The laid-back me. The slick me. The way I actually handle situations.”

While he enters the house with a relatively clean slate, he admits there were a few moments before filming that made him question another cast member’s behavior.

Still, he’s entering focused.

“If they need that, it’s whatever,” he says. “If not, we keeping it P.”

His goal isn’t manufactured drama.

It’s authenticity.

He believes what separates him from the rest of the cast isn’t volume—it’s genuine personality.

“I’m very comical,” he says. “Authenticity at its best. Hidden talents.”

Those hidden layers may end up becoming the biggest surprise of the season.

Building More Than Muscles

Away from cameras and television sets, Mustang continues helping clients transform their lives through fitness.

As an AAAI-certified personal trainer, he believes physical fitness creates benefits far beyond appearance.

His advice is surprisingly simple.

“Give yourself one hour a day.”

Out of twenty-four hours, he argues, everyone can dedicate sixty minutes toward becoming healthier.

That consistency builds more than muscles.

It creates discipline.

Mental strength.

Healthy habits.

He also stresses the importance of meal preparation, proper nutrition, and investing in knowledgeable trainers who understand how to help clients reach their goals.

Just as people work every day to earn a paycheck, Mustang believes they should invest daily in maintaining the body they want.

More Than a Television Personality

Through every accomplishment, every audition, every viral moment, and every new opportunity, Mustang continues proving that labels rarely tell the full story.

He’s not simply an actor.

Not simply a reality television personality.

Not simply a fitness trainer.

He’s a man of faith who refuses to allow public perception to define private purpose.
